Tyler Hampton, a PhD Student in the Collaborative Water Program & Waterloo’s Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, has won the prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship for academic excellence, research potential, and leadership.
Announced today by the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, Canada’s Minister of Science and Sport, the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship program aims to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by supporting students who demonstrate both leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and/or engineering and health.
Tyler’s research proposal - modelling water quality changes from streams draining forested landscapes in response to timber harvesting and wildfire – will help predict the effects of these activities on drinking water quality in forested regions of Canada.
