Meet the new faces of SWIGS

We’re excited to announce the newly elected executive committee of the Society of the Water Institute Graduate Students (SWIGS) for 2024-25! After a successful election in July, the SWIGS team is ready to lead with fresh energy and innovative ideas.

At the helm is Thomas Odland, an MSc student who will serve as Chair. Thomas is eager to collaborate with his fellow executives to continue offering the high-quality workshops, networking opportunities, social events, and community outreach that have become the hallmark of SWIGS.

“The SWIGS team from last year made a significant impact and laid a strong foundation for us to build upon. I am very excited to continue with the new team, building on the work of the previous team. Their efforts established an excellent structure for SWIGS, and I am confident that this year will be a testament to both their hard work and the ambition of the new team,” said Odland.

“Our initial step will be to review which events have resonated most with people. We will then focus on expanding and enhancing impactful events such as World Water Day, Cleanups, and Blue Drinks, while reassessing and scaling back those that have had less impact. This approach will create more opportunities for collaboration, networking, and learning, ultimately helping students develop valuable skills in the water sector.”
