Waterloo spinoff Aquanty Inc. ranks in top 11 big data startups

Aquanty Inc., a water resources science and technology firm specializing in predictive analytics, simulation and forecasting, research services, and IoT, was recently selected one of Waterloo, Ontario’s “top 11 big data startups and companies” by Best Startup Canada.

The top companies were selected based on their exceptional performance in innovation, growth, management and societal impact.

Aquanty's diverse scientific team are recognized as leading international subject matter experts in hydrogeology, contaminant transport, soil physics, climate change, applied math, integrated climate/surface/subsurface modelling, and they excel in developing custom, very advanced, numerical models.

They provide cutting-edge hydrogeological computer modelling software and services across a broad base of industrial sectors and the flagship platform, HydroGeoSphere™, is a class leader in fully integrated three-dimensional surface/subsurface modelling.

One key example showcasing Aquanty’s innovative and socially impactful work is the Canada 1 Water project, an ambitious modelling initiative to develop a continental-scale integrated hydrologic model that will cover the entire country (including the Far North), providing the Canadian public and policymakers with a helpful new tool for evaluating climate change and land use impacts on our collective water resources.

Water Institute member Ed Sudicky, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences is principal founder and Board Chair of Aquanty Inc., which was founded in 2012.
