Implementation of the Model

Brief History

On March 15 2013, there was a formal commitment to explore a new method of allocating resources that would better inform strategic decisions at all levels across the institution. A Steering Committee was established consisting of the following members:

  • Vice-President Academic and Provost (lead)
  • Vice-President Finance and Administration
  • Vice-President University Research
  • Director, Institutional Analysis and Planning
  • Six academic Deans

The Steering Committee spent the next few years exploring conceptual models and looking at work done by other institutions. Also during that time, model prototypes were constructed, leading to refinements of the initial prototype model.

Model Review

The model will run under the initial implementation for three fiscal years. During the third year, the model will be measured against the Principles, and will be assessed for possible implementation improvements.
