Matthew Courtney's CV (PDF)

During my Nanotechnology Engineering undergraduate program, I held co-op positions at the University of Waterloo and Sunnybrook Research Institute. Through these experiences I gained a passion for developing medical devices and biosensors. Now I am building upon these passions as a PhD student in the Waterloo Microfluidics Lab. My main projects include topics like electrophoresis, microwave sensing, and droplet microfluidics. The ultimate goal of my research is to develop an automated high-throughput screening platform for drug discovery that significantly reduces reagent consumption and analysis time when compared to traditional microwell plates. I am also very interested in Kitchener-Waterloo’s growing start-up community, and welcome opportunities to share my knowledge and expertise.
