Pei received her BASc and PhD in Materials Science and Engineering at Tongji University in 2009 and at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2014, respectively. During her graduate study she went to Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics as a visiting student for one and a half years. She has participated in various materials projects, e.g. modification of nylon for oil/water separation, ZnO nanorods for photocatalytic water purification by using a microfluidic reactor and W/Cu functionally graded materials used in fusion reactors, and gained extensive knowledge of how to successfully process, characterize and optimize materials for a specific application. Pei’s research interests focus on materials engineering and its applications in new energy resources and environmental treatments or detection.
