Round Table with WiE Leaders May 2024

We are thrilled to invite you to our Round Table with WiE Leaders! Join us for insightful discussions with four UW professors from different engineering areas, who will share their stories and perspectives on Academic Workplace Culture. Snacks and refreshments provided! Please register in advance to guarantee your spot.

Meet the panellists:

Andrea Brookfield

Andrea Brookfield is an Assistant Professor in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department at the University of Waterloo. Her research interests include the development and use of efficient yet effective numerical tools for resource management. Primarily, she studies the use of hydrological models to simulate flow and contaminant transport, including the thermal regime, for prediction, management, and process investigation.

Christine Moresoli

Christine Moresoli is a Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at University of Waterloo since 1998. Her research interests are interdisciplinary and have focused on food products, food processing and bioprocess engineering, specifically the sustainability and development of plant-based food products, bioproducts, drinking water and protein membrane separation processes.

Veronika Magdanz

Veronika Magdanz is currently Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo, supporting the Biomedical Engineering program as a core member. Dr. Veronika Magdanz is developing wireless small scale magnetic robots for biomedical applications. One of the challenges for remotely controlled microrobots is finding efficient power sources on the microscale. Veronika Magdanz uses different approaches spanning from biohybrid to magnetic actuation to power these tiny machines.

Valerie Ward

Valerie Ward is an assistant professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Waterloo. Her primary focus is the use of microalgae, metabolic engineering, and ionic liquid based separations in biological systems.
