GoEngGirl 2017 was a big success!

We were excited to host and welcome 80 and their parents to campus on October 14, 2017, to join us for Go Eng Girl.  We heard inspiring stories of the pathway to engineering from Amma Wakefield, asked questions, solved problems and learned about what's needed to take the next step towards post-secondary study in Engineering.

Check out a little snippet of the day!

Women of Impact

Women make up 50 per cent of the population, but they are under-represented in many science and engineering disciplines. Mining and metallurgy is one of the least gender-diverse sectors, with women currently representing about 15 per cent of technical people. Diversity improves perspective; it gives us the full picture, which vastly increases our chances of producing breakthrough discoveries and innovation.

The winner for the June 2015 Convocation is Lydia Terisno, a graduate from the Chemical Engineering program with an outstanding academic record.

Lydia has maintained an academic standing of "Excellent" throughout her academic terms and has achieved high grades in some of her courses.  She consistently ranked as one of the top students in her class. Ms Terisno has remained the Dean's Honour list for her entire undergraduate career and will graduate top of her class.

White Ribbon Day

On December 6th, 2014 we will remember fourteen young women who lost their lives 25 years ago in 1989.  On this day, known now as the “Montreal Massacre”, an enraged gunman, roamed the corridors of Montreal's École Polytechnique and killed 14 women, 12 of whom were engineering students. Details of the event outlined how the gunman went into a classroom of engineering students on the last day of classes before exams began. He separated the men from the women and opened fire on the women.
