Congratulations to Elise Vist on their publication in the book Virtual Identities and Digital Culture
The book Virtual Identities and Digital Culture just dropped today and includes the chapter "From a Group of Friends to a Mainstream Audience: Critical Role and New Media Publics" authored by the WCC's own Multimodal and Public Scholarship Developer Elise Vist and former WCC Arts First Coordinator Betsy Brey!
Using the popular live-play tabletop role-playing game (TTRPG) show Critical Role as a case study, Brey and Vist demonstrate that the ways creators take up the affordances of new media shape the kinds of publics that are invited and expected as their fandom. We're definitely checking this out!
