Welcome to Applied Health Sciences Computing (AHS Computing). We are committed to providing Information Technology (IT) support to faculty, staff, and students in Applied Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo.

On this site, we offer information about your accounts, e-mail, printing, software, VPN and other services. You will also find notes from the many courses that we have taught on all aspects of computing.

  1. Sep. 19, 2018(Resolved) Campus virtual private network (VPN) unavailable

    Update: This issue has been resolved and the campus VPN is available.


    What is happening? Users are currently unable to log in to the campus VPN at cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca.

    IST is investigating.

  2. Sep. 4, 2018RESOLVED: Connect/Exchange issues - September 4

    Update (as of 3 p.m.):

    The databases have been balanced and the CPU usage has returned to normal on both servers. All Exchange activities should be operating normally again.


    What is happening? Currently Connect (Exchange) is experiencing high CPU, which is causing slow message delivery, login timeouts, etc.

    IST is working on the issue, and we are hoping to have the service back to normal shortly.

  3. Aug. 27, 2018Planned Power Outage (August 29 and 30): Turn off your equipment and what computing services will not be available

    What is happening? University Plant Operations is performing work that requires cutting of electrical power to AHS, BMH, LHN and LHS on Wednesday, August 29 (starting at 7:00 p.m. and finishing by 3:00 a.m. August 30)

    What computing services will be affected? AHS Computing Office staff will power down servers located in AHS, BMH, LHN and LHS at the end of the work day on Wednesday, August 29 and will start bringing services back online the next morning (starting at 8:00 a.m. Thursday August 29). The affected services include:
