CAMJ is thrilled to announce that Dr. Muhammad Shehryar Khan, a PhD graduate from our research group, has won the prestigious Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship. He was ranked 1st out of 159 world-class applicants in the competition judged by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) of Canada. Dr. Khan is holding the Banting Fellowship in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States.
Dr. Khan is currently utilizing laser-induced particle impact testing (LIPIT) to study fundamental issues related to cold spraying (CS) technology, which is a solid-state powder deposition process that achieves impact-induced mechanical or metallurgical bonding at extremely high strain rates. His ongoing research explores bonding mechanisms for various materials, including pure metals and alloys, to shed light on solid-state bonding behaviors in industrially relevant dissimilar materials joining applications.
On behalf of CAMJ, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Khan for this exceptional achievement and wish him the very best in his future academic and research goals. We are extremely proud to have Dr. Khan as a valuable member of our research group. His commitment to academic excellence, innovative thinking, and his ability to make a positive impact on society truly exemplify the values and mission of our group and the University of Waterloo.
Please join us in celebrating Dr. Khan's extraordinary achievement and wishing him continued success in his future endeavors. The results of the competition can be found on: https://banting.fellowships-bourses.gc.ca/en/2022-2023-eng.html
