Dr. Yamamoto is a professor at Hiroshima University, Mechanical Science and Engineering in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. The topic of his talk was "Development of hot‐wire laser welding processes
and observation techniques for welding phenomena"

He discussed the use of combining a laser heat source and a hot-wire system which creates a weld joint having low heat input, high efficiency, high controllability of of weld and HAZ properties and other benefits.
