Biographical Information
Shehryar is an NSERC Scholar who holds a strong academic background in mechanical & mechatronics engineering with a focus on materials science and advanced materials processing used in advanced welding, joining, and additive manufacturing applications. Shehryar has published several research papers in top-ranked international journals and has specialized knowledge in advanced materials characterization, mechanical testing, and failure analysis. He co-developed and co-taught an interdisciplinary undergraduate course on climate change and has mentored high school and undergraduate students from under-served and underrepresented communities. Shehryar is a recipient of the NSERC postgraduate PhD scholarship along with several other notable awards and accolades: Paul Niessen-Teck Award, Nanofellowship Award, and the Engineer of the Future Award. He completed his Honors BASc in Mechanical Engineering (Welding and Joining Specialization) with a Minor in Economics with Distinction at the University of Waterloo. He started his graduate program at CAMJ as a MASc student but was transferred directly to a Ph.D. in 2019.
