CIARS member and Waterloo biomedical engineering student, Karly  has received a MITACS Globalink Research Award. The award will allow Karly to continue her research on mm-Wave sensors under the supervision of Dr. George Shaker and in collaboration with the Sorbonne University in Paris, France.

Shuo Liu, Nanoengineering engineering student at UW and student of CIARS member Dr. George Shaker, has received IEEE AP-S Eugene F. Knott Memorial Pre-Doctoral Research Grant in the amount of $1,500 US. The grant honours the memory of IEEE Life Fellow Eugene F. Knott, who was a distinguished member of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society and was well known for his contributions to the theory, reduction, and measurement of radar cross section.

Smarter Interfaces using Radar

Karly Smith, 3A University of Waterloo biomedical engineering student and student of CIARS member Dr. George Shaker, has qualified to the Top 75 in Canada for NSERC's Science, Action! Competition.

The antenna was designed by a large academic team from the University of Waterloo's CIARS in close collaboration with industrial experts from COM DEV International (now Honeywell Canada) and space qualification testing specialists at the Canadian Space Agency's (CSA's) David Florida Laboratory (DFL).
