The official launch of the newly established uWaterloo Centre for Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (CPAMI) is held on July 13 at 10:30 am at Davis Centre in the presence of VP Research Professor John Dixon, Dean of Engineering Professor Adel Sedra, Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Professor Manoj Sajdev, professors from different faculties at uWaterloo, grad students and industrial partner representatives.

Mehrdad Gangeh, a Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence PhD candidate, was awarded the "Best Session Oral Presentation Award" at the 2011 University of Waterloo Graduate Student Research Conference for his talk titled "Dictionary Learning and Sparse Representation in Texture Classification". Congratulations to Mehrdad for this accomplishment!
