Join Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement Director Paul Heidebrecht at the inaugural Summit for Responsible Innovation and Technology at Federation Hall from 8:30 AM-5:30 PM on Wednesday, October 23! Organized by the Waterloo Council for Responsible Innovation and Technology (of which Paul is a member), the summit will be an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students to provide input into the effort to transform the culture at Waterloo in ways that elevates the priority of ethics and social impact in teaching, research, and entrepreneurship.
Waterloo’s Council for Responsible Innovation and Technology is committed to transforming culture at Waterloo, across Canada, and internationally to ensure that education and governance progresses at the same pace as innovation. Spanning research, education, policy, outreach and connection, Waterloo’s commitment includes:
- promoting responsible research that actively attends to critical social and ethical issues embedded in the research, design, and application of technology
- educating and empowering researchers and students to be responsible contributors and ethically aware consumers
- developing policies that ensure and support ethical innovation
