The Centre likes to celebrate the accomplishments and milestones of its participants, but without support from our community, none of the Centre’s initiatives would be possible. Donations are a key source of income for programs like the Grebel Peace Incubator and the Grebel Gallery. These initiatives allow the Centre to foster peace-centered innovation and community change.

As we approach our 10-year anniversary, we are beginning to reflect on the incredible journey we've had and to look forward to the years ahead, filled with continued growth and impact. To learn more about the Centre’s accomplishments, visit our Impact Summary page and consider how you could make a difference by donating to the Centre for Peace Advancement

Over the last 10 years the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement has worked alongside community members to catalyze meaningful collaboration and advance peacebuilding. The Centre has been a home away from home for many students, start-ups, and affiliate organizations. The impact of the Centre grows every year with new peace researchers, practitioners, entrepreneurs, artists, and students joining us on our journey.

In addition to operational funding provided by Kindred and Grebel, donations amplify the positive impact that our participants and programs are having in the Kitchener-Waterloo region and beyond. Indeed, since its opening in 2014 the Centre has been able to leverage over 1.6 million dollars in additional external funding for projects with our participants and partners—well over four dollars leveraged for every dollar donated.

There are currently three main ways that donations are used to support the Centre for Peace Advancement’s efforts: the Grebel Annual Fund, the Grebel Peace Incubator Fund, and the Grebel Gallery Endowment all accept one off, repeated, and legacy gifts.

  • Financial support from the Grebel Fund helps cover the operational costs of the Centre and enables a wide range of student and community engagement activities. To donate to the Grebel Fund, click on “I would like to support another area” and select “Centre for Peace Advancement.”

  • Through the Peace Incubator Fund, peace start-ups are able to access seed funding each semester to accelerate their learning and stimulate the development of their ventures. The Peace Incubator connects the Centre to the rest of Waterloo’s Innovation Ecosystem, catalyzing entrepreneurship opportunities and Waterloo’s ability to make a difference. To donate to the Peace Fund, click on “I would like to support another area”, and select “Peace Incubator Fund”. Plus, since 2017 all contributions to the Incubator Fund have been matched through the generous support of Aden and Joanne Bauman, so your gift for peace will double!

  • Contributions to the Grebel Gallery Endowment, established by Jim Tiessen and Karen Thiessen, enable the Gallery to amplify the voices of artists who are striving to advance peace, and to promote the discussion of important topics. To donate to the Grebel Gallery go to “Endowments for Student Awards and Academic Programs” and select “Grebel Gallery.”

Whether you are an individual or represent an organization, an alum who wants to reconnect with the University College you called home during your studies, or simply want to support peacebuilding and values driven entrepreneurship in your community, you can make a difference by supporting the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement.
