Set to the backdrop of the United Nations (UN) Plaza in New York City is Mennonite Central Committee’s (MCC) UN office. This office and its staff serve as a vein for MCC’s advocacy work to move the needle on important global humanitarian issues. 

Since joining the Epp Peace Incubator in 2015, Rachel Thompson, founder of Marlena Books, has been busy growing her social enterprise.

Thinking and working politically is a key ingredient for participants at the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement (CPA)—we believe this a fundamental process that ensures peacebuilding work is targeting the root of an issue rather than the symptoms.

Peace advancement has many intersecting layers, perspectives and possibilities. For the past two years, the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement (CPA) has invited Waterloo Region to celebrate peace in ways they find most meaningful. Peace Week runs during the International Day of Peace, celebrated each year on September 21.

Peace is not an absence of war, but the living process of freely interacting with others across borders seeking to understand their values and perspective, while striving for justice and truth.

Art has unique potential to advance peace in transformative ways. In this spirit, the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement invites the public to engage with an exhibit of hope and reconciliation on September 20, 2018 at 4:00 pm.

In 2015, the Kindred Credit Union Centre for Peace Advancement (CPA) launched our Peace Incubator program to support new peace-related initiatives. In the years since, we have differentiated our Incubator program within the innovation ecosystem on campus and beyond by bridging the fields of peacebuilding and social innovation.
