Join the Conrad Grebel, Mennonite Central Committee, and the Korea Art Forum for a reception celebrating the Grebel Gallery's current exhibit, A New Era of Peace and a Peaceful Land. Hear from the exhibit curator, Heng-Gil Han from the Korea Art Forum in NYC, and experience these rarely-seen artworks produced by world-renowned North and South Korean, American, and Chinese artists.
Responding to the speeches given by leaders of North and South Korea at an inter-Korean summit in 2018, this exhibition serves to communicate the following thesis: Peace is not an absence of war, but the living process of freely interacting with others and understanding their values and perspective, while realizing truth and justice.
The reception also falls within Waterloo Region's Peace Week, and is part of the week-long celebrations surrounding the International Day of Peace.
