On Wednesday, Feb. 5th, 2020, the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change and Water Institute co-hosted an evening event, “Ideas to Shape the Future: Fighting Climate Change", at THEMUSEUM in downtown Kitchener. This event was part of THEMUSEUM’s exhibit “ALARM: Responding to Our Climate Emergency”. Seven institute researchers shared their insights and big ideas on tackling climate change at the individual, community, and global level.

Documentary Screening 'Anthropocene: The Human Epoch'

The Canadian Coastal Resilience Forum and the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change are pleased to present our inaugral documentary screening of the film Anthropocene: The Human Epoch. A cinematic meditation on humanity’s massive reengineering of the planet, ANTHROPOCENE: The Human Epoch is a four years in the making feature documentary film from the multiple-award winning team of Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier and Edward Burtynsky. The film follows the research of an international body of scientists, the Anthropocene Working Group who, after nearly 10 years of research, are arguing that the Holocene Epoch gave way to the Anthropocene Epoch in the mid-twentieth century, because of profound and lasting human changes to the Earth.

Ideas to shape the future: Fighting climate change

Join us for an evening hosted by the University of Waterloo’s Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change (IC3) and Water Institute. One hour, seven topics, seven speakers, with seven minutes each. Leading experts from both institutes will share their knowledge and ideas on how climate change can be addressed at the individual, community, and global levels.

National Pan-Canadian Expert Collaboration on climate change and clean energy development has just been announced!

Waterloo’s Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation and the Interdisciplinary Centre on Climate Change are partners in the collaboration and will work closely with the institute to achieve its objectives. IC3 member and head of the Intact Centre, Blair Feltmate, will be a member of the new institute's Adaptation Expert Panel.
