Subject: Campuses closed – Friday, December 23

December 22, 2022

The University of Waterloo’s physical campus locations will be closed on Friday, December 23.

A significant and potentially dangerous storm begins tonight affecting southern Ontario throughout Friday. Conditions are set to be uncertain and potentially dangerous. As we have no scheduled academic activity on Friday, we are closing our campus locations.

Only those people who provide essential services should come to campus locations. We will continue to provide support for students who remain on our campus over the winter break. Conditions on campuses may be slippery on Friday and over the closure period. Please take caution when moving around.

Employees who are scheduled to work on Friday and that can work remotely should plan to do so. If you have any questions about whether you should be working, please contact your supervisor.

Normal pre-holiday closure activities such as garbage collection will happen tonight.

Please be cautious if you are travelling this weekend. I hope you enjoy the holiday break, see you in the New Year.
