Responsible Investing Working Group gives update

A message from the Responsible Investing Working Group (RIWG).

As the Responsible Investing Working Group (RIWG) progresses in its work towards making a recommendation to the Board of Governors as to whether and how to incorporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into decision making re: the investment of the endowment and pension funds, the RIWG believes that it would be beneficial to share the material and input considered to date with all members of the university community.

To this end, a compilation of this material has been distilled into a single PDF file with a cover sheet summarizing the material and bookmarks for ease of navigation.

Any member of the university community can access the compilation of documents using their WatIAM credentials.

Any member of the university community is invited to send any comments for the RIWG, or any questions on the document, to Mike Grivicic in the Secretariat (mgrivicic@uwaterloo.ca).

Learning platform for pharmacy professionals launches

The University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy is pleased to mark the official launch of Pharmacy5in5, an interactive, online learning platform designed to help pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in Ontario provide high quality patient care by strengthening their knowledge in various practice areas. The innovative platform was developed by the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy with support from the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Icons representing pharmacy quiz topics.“We recognize the time pressures faced by many pharmacy professionals,” says professor Kelly Grindrod, the project lead. “The platform lets practitioners test their knowledge on a given topic by taking a short quiz and answering just five questions in five minutes or less. It was developed using educational psychology and health services research, including theories of behaviour change, multimedia learning, audit, feedback and game-based learning.”

Users make accounts and self-assess with a wide variety of content. Topics draw from recent changes in the services pharmacists can provide such as renewals, injection administration, and adaptations and also reflect health issues like serotonin syndrome or opioid overdoses. Topics will be updated and added to over time.

At the end of each quiz, users can view their score improve their knowledge by reviewing resources on the topic they were assessed in. These resources were created specifically for Pharmacy5in5 and include cases, videos, infographics, helpful websites, and more.
