A message from Campus Wellness.
Thrive is a series of events focused on building positive mental health for University of Waterloo students, faculty, and staff. Thrive is also a mindset that encourages you to flourish. We all have mental health, and we can each strengthen our mental health by learning about it, thinking about it, talking about it, and discovering new skills and resources to help us Thrive.
The Thrive winter term events will be hosted on February 11 and features: Positivitea with Feds; free coffee, tea, and oatmeal for grad students from the GSA; More Feet on the Ground mental health training for faculty and staff; and the Empowering Habit Change Coping Skills seminar for students. Check out the Thrive website for event times and locations.
The Thrive Committee also encourages everyone to wear their Thrive t-shirts on February 11. You can also help by spreading the word to your departments and areas.
Campus Wellness and the Thrive Committee are excited to be continuing the important work that began in the fall term in encouraging our community to Thrive all year long.
The Sustainability Office is excited to announce that the construction of a new secure bike cage is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. The bike cage will be located between Environment 3 and Modern Languages and will hold 48 bikes. Space in the bike cage can be reserved for $10+HST per month and will be managed through Parking Services.
The bike cage project began as a student initiative to support more active and sustainable means of transportation to and from campus. Funding support was provided by Parking Services, the Sustainability Action Fund (SAF), the Waterloo Environment Students Endowment Fund (WESEF), VP Administration & Finance, the Faculty of Environment, the Faculty of Arts, and the Faculty Association of the University of Waterloo (FAUW).
This project supports the direction and proposed initiatives under ‘Improving Access & Wayfinding’ in Waterloo’s Campus Master Plan (2009), which calls for more accessible, adequate, and convenient secure bike parking throughout South Campus. This project also supports Waterloo’s commitment to increase active and sustainable commuting as outlined in the Environmental Sustainability Strategy (2017). Finally, it supports student and employee health and well-being by encouraging healthier and more active modes of transportation.
Stay tuned for more details on timelines and reservations in the coming weeks. To view the full announcement, please visit the Sustainability Office news page.
A message from the Office of Advancement.
For close to 15 years, thousands of Treat-a-Gram treats, including brownies, cake pops, cupcakes, chocolates, postcards and more, have been purchased by faculty and staff in support of a variety of causes from student wellness to international experience awards.
The annual mid-February event was made possible by a dedicated group of volunteers who helped with event promotion, logistics, packaging and delivery.
As an institution known for its culture of innovation and improvement, we’re busy working on evaluating our programs to ensure we are doing our best to provide support to our students. This means we won’t be holding the Treat-a-gram event next month, but stay tuned for more Keystone news in the months ahead. In the meantime, we would love to hear your feedback, so please email us at keystone@uwaterloo.ca.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
