The elevator in Environment 1 (EV1) is shut down for maintenance from April 23 to May 25, 2018. During this time, the only way to access CTE’s offices on the third floor of EV1 is by the stairs. We are happy to arrange an alternative meeting place for CTE meetings if requested. For directions to our workshop spaces (EV1 241 and 242) via the elevator in EV3, please visit our Location page. We invite you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Teaching Awards

Teaching awards celebrate teaching that has lasting, positive effects on students and deepens student learning. Nominate an instructor or colleague and honour their approach to teaching excellence.

University of Waterloo teaching awards

Before an instructor is nominated for an external teaching award, it's common to nominate them for an internal award at the University of Waterloo. Different awards recognize different forms of teaching by faculty members, instructional staff, Teaching Assistants, or instructional teams.

External teaching awards

Prestigious external teaching awards honour excellence in teaching and leadership and raise the profile of excellence in teaching at Waterloo. External awards also offer recipients the unique opportunity to contribute to broad educational change through participation in cross-disciplinary educational conferences and forums.

Visit our External Awards page to learn more about each of the five major external teaching awards and to find out how we can help you submit a nomination.

Questions? Contact Verna Keller for more information about the Distinguished Teacher Awards and the Amit and Meena Chakma Awards for Exceptional Teaching by a Student. For support for external teaching award nominations, contact Lisa Kabesh
