Teaching Squares - Winter 2023

Teaching Squares provides a framework for reciprocal classroom visits and a debrief discussion that sets the stage for you to revitalize your own teaching. If you are teaching this coming winter term (2023) and you are interested in being a part of a teaching squares group, please register for the winter 2023 Teaching Squares program by Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Join Savannah Sloat (Manager, Indigenous Initiatives, Faculty of Science) and Leslie Wexler (Sr. Educational Developer, Indigenous Knowledges and Anti-Racist Pedagogies) for a discussion of Billy Ray Belcourt's latest novel and how indigenous experience impacts the educational journey in higher education.

This workshop will begin with a presentation of relevant data, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women policy, legislation, and recommendations for a path forward. The second part of the workshop will move away from discussing only a deficit model and encourage participants to recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous women.
