Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) SCI COM Modules - Online (CTE7039)

Tuesday, April 15, 2025 10:00 am - 11:00 am EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: Online

Facilitator: Madison Hill (Centre for Teaching Excellence)

Description

Join Madison as she walks attendees through the Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) modules that were created for Science back in 2023. Madison will chat about the vision behind the modules and the intended uses of these modules.

To begin working with the knowledge held by Indigenous communities, it is important to first understand what this knowledge is all about and the terms used to describe it. For the purpose of these modules, Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) will be defined as a cumulative body of knowledge, belief, and practice that has been handed down through generations through traditional songs, stories, and beliefs. It is the relationship of living beings (including humans) with their traditional groups and with their natural environment.
