Accessibility Reading Group Part 1 - Online

Tuesday, May 13, 2025 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm EDT (GMT -04:00)

Location: Online

Facilitators: Annik Bilodeau and Victoria Feth

Description

This reading group is intended for people with any level of accessibility confidence and a desire to have deeper discussions and accessible education. Through a selection of short readings from a variety of sources, we will explore how faculty and staff can support and use accessible teaching practices to benefit all students of the University of Waterloo.

This reading group will be capped at 12 people, to develop connections and community, and to ensure that every participant has the opportunity to contribute to the conversations. Meetings will be hybrid or fully online, on Teams, depending on the wishes of the group. We will seek input on this via our registration form. Meetings will not be recorded.

Registration

Please register only once using this form; it is for both instances of the reading group. Registration Form - Accessible Education Reading Group. The form will close April 25th or when we reach 12 registrants.

Cancellations

Many of our workshops have waiting lists, so if you've registered but can't attend, please cancel your registration well in advance through the registration system, so that someone else can fill your spot.

Accessibility

The University of Waterloo is committed to achieving barrier-free accessibility for persons with disabilities who are studying, working, or visiting at Waterloo. If you have questions concerning access, such as parking, building layouts, or obtaining information in alternative formats, or wish to request accommodations for a CTE workshop or event, please contact CTE via email (cte@uwaterloo.ca) or phone (ext. 43353) and include the session’s title and date. Our workshops typically involve a mix of presentation and discussion-based activities, and we encourage a scent-free environment. We also welcome accompanying assistants, interpreters, or note-takers; notify us if accommodations are needed in this regard. Please note that some accommodations may require time to arrange.
