ERG Helps Support Young Scientist’s Microplastics Project That Wins Award

We were proud to support Grade 7 student Tyler with his Ottawa Regional Science Fair project investigating how different clothing fabrics shed microplastics during washing. Hang helped analyze water samples collected after washing cotton and polyester fabrics to measure the amount of microplastics released.

Tyler’s project compared different fabric types, including both new and heavily used polyester clothing, and used tap water as a control reference. His hard work and curiosity paid off. He qualified for the Eastern Ontario Regional Science Fair and received an award sponsored by the Water Association of Ontario. Tyler plans to expand this research for next year’s science fair.
