ERG members attend the 2024 ASLO Meeting in Madison, Wisconsin
The 2024 annual meeting of the Association for the Science of Limnology and Oceanography (ASLO) took place June 2-7 in Madison, Wisconsin, along the shores of Lake Monona. The meeting focused on the threats to aquatic ecosystems and water resources, including changing hydrological regimes, algal blooms, overharvest and biodiversity loss, and how to adapt to meet the challenges they pose. ERG members Philippe Van Cappellen, Serghei Bocaniov and Xiaochuang Bu attended the meeting. Serghei and Philippe, together with Zahra Akbarzadeh, a former ERG postdoc, and their colleague Sergei Katsev from the Large Lake Observatory at the University of Minnesota, convened session S37 Carbon and nutrient fluxes under climate change: Cycling, retention and impacts along the aquatic continuum from land to coastal ocean.
The session featured the following oral ERG presentations:
Serghei Bocaniov and Philippe Van Cappellen: A NEW MODELING TOOL TO PREDICT RESPONSES OF LAKE ERIE (CANADA/USA) TO EUTROPHICATION MANAGEMENT DECISIONS
Xiaochuang Bu, Zahra Akbarzadeh, Chris Parsons, Steph Slowinski, Fereidoun Rezanezhad, and Philippe Van Cappellen: TRAJECTORIES OF ORGANIC CARBON LOADING TO THE ARCTIC OCEAN BY THE MACKENZIE RIVER
