On June 22, ERG PhD students Jovana Radosavljevic and Bowen Zhou were invited to present seminars about their research at the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) Science & Technology Branch under the Water Science and Technology Directorate Seminar Series. The seminar series is hosted by Watershed Hydrology and Ecology Research Division (WHERD) at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters (CCIW), Burlington, ON, one of the world’s leading freshwater research centers. CCIW provides ECCC and the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) with shared facilities for environmental research and development, as well as monitoring, resource management and navigational charting. Scientists at CCIW play a critical role in providing the knowledge necessary for the management of the Great Lakes and other aquatic ecosystems.Jovana’s presentation was entitled Salinization as a driver of eutrophication symptoms in freshwater urban lakes, and Bowen’s presentation was on Assessing the role of stormwater best management practices on phosphorus export from urban landscapes.
