Fereidoun and Katie attend the 2026 Peatland Science Symposium

The peatland science symposium held jointly by Can-Peat and the Peatland Ecology Research Group (PERG) took place on February 18th in Quebec City and featured presentations from students, researchers, and industry partners. The symposium was followed by the Can-Peat annual meeting with sessions on mapping efforts for geospatial decision support tools and minimizing the impacts of roads crossing peatlands.

ERG research assistant Katie Hettinga attended this meeting and presented a talk on how “machine learning models may favour seasonal signals over mechanistic drivers in peatland CO2 flux predictions”.
