This year the Ecohydrology Group sent six researchers to present their work at the annual Goldschmidt Conference (Aug 25-30, 2013) in Florence, Italy, organized by the European Association of Geochemistry and the Geochemical Society. Since 1994, the Goldschmidt has become the leading forum for presenting the latest geochemical research, attracting more than 3000 delegates from more than 60 countries worldwide.
Philippe Van Cappellen presented two keynote addresses, one on wetland soils and the other on groundwater--surface water interactions. He was also co-organizer of two sessions: "Groundwater--Surface Water Interactions" and "Urban Biogeochemistry".
Hans Dürr gave an invited talk on heavy metal contamination in a local, urbanized watershed. Fereidoun Rezanezhad presented his work on the relationship between the sulfur cycle and water table fluctuations in peat soils. Posters were presented by Ana Lima, Melisa Hollingham, and Nienke Ansems. Additional Ecohydrology members appearing as co-authors include Raoul-Marie Couture, David O'Connell, and Chris Parsons.
Melisa Hollingham (MSc student) received a travel scholarship from the University of Waterloo to attend this conference.
