Dr. Hans Dürr, Research Assistant Professor, and Alex Driedger, MSc Student in Ecohydrology, attended the 13th annual Great Lakes Beach Association and 8th biennial State of Lake Michigan Conference, held October 15-18 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The joint conference brings together resource managers, scientists, planners, elected officials, and interested citizens -- all working to improve and protect Lake Michigan and Great Lakes beaches. Hans and Alex presented two posters entitled “Remote Sensing of Plastic Debris”, with co-authors Kristen Mitchell, Eleanora Brancazi and Philippe Van Cappellen, and “Biogeochemical Investigation of Groundwater – Lake Interactions at Beaches of the Great Lakes: First Results” with co-authors Fereidoun Rezanezhad, Philippe Van Cappellen, Clare Robinson, Christina Smeaton, Gabriel Bacca-Cortes, Joseph Salerno and Krista Thrasher.
