Hans Dürr among several meeting participants
Dr. Hans Dürr, Research Assistant Professor, attended the AGU fall meeting, held December 9-13 in San Francisco. Together with several co-authors, he presented a poster on 'Effects of Human alterations on global river basins and their associated coastal zones: focus on River-dominated Ocean Margins (RiOMars). During the conference, he also joined with colleagues for the kick-off meeting for the Belmont Forum project on sustainable deltas (led by Efi Foufoula-Georgiou, University of Minnesota; Hans and Prof. Philippe Van Cappellen are project members). DELTAS: Catalyzing action towards sustainability of deltaic systems with an integrated modeling framework for risk assessment is a three year project that started in September 2013, funded by the Belmont Forum. The project will investigate how climate change, combined with pressures of engineering, development and human population growth, makes deltaic ecosystems vulnerable and how this affects the human communities which depend on them.
