Katie Hettinga, an ERG Masters Student, won first place for her presentation at the CRRC Days Conference

Katie Hettinga, a first year MSc student in ERG, won first place for her talk on “Non-growing season CO2 emissions may offset a substantial fraction of growing season CO2 uptake in Canadian peatlands” at the Cold Regions Research Centre Days Conference 2023. This project focuses on CO2 dynamics in the winter, or non-growing season, across Canadian peatlands, how these dynamics function relative to the growing season, and what they mean for annual CObudgets. Her next steps will identify the key environmental drivers behind these processes and how these will be impacted by climate change.

Congratulations Katie!
