New book chapter explores the challenges of assigning monetary values to ecosystem services

Thursday, September 3, 2020

In a new book chapter published by Nova Science Publishers, ERG researchers Tariq Aziz and Philippe Van Cappellen describe the uncertainties associated with estimating monetary values of ecosystem services. The chapter reviews the basic concept of ecosystem services and how to valuate them. The authors illustrate the economic valuation of ecosystem services using case studies from Ontario, Canada. They also point to the need to enhance the legitimacy and credibility of ecosystem services valuation approaches to more strongly link them to their local reality.

The chapter appeared in “Canada: Past, Present and Future Perspectives” which can be accessed here.
