Philippe among the 18 inaugural De Chastelain Scholars

The Ireland Canada University Foundation (ICUF) has announced the inaugural De Chastelain Scholars.  This program is named in honour of General John de Chastelain in recognition of his pivotal role in the Northern Ireland peace process and supports research that contributes to more peaceful, inclusive and sustainable societies. Selected through a highly competitive process, this cohort of scholars spans a wide range of disciplines and brings researchers together to address shared challenges and build lasting connections between our countries. The program is jointly funded by Global Affairs Canada and Ireland’s Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science.

Nine scholars based in Ireland will travel to Canada, and nine based in Canada will come to Ireland, connecting 25 institutions across Canada and the island of Ireland, North and South. Philippe is the first Canadian Scholar to travel to Ireland where he is currently working with Dr. David O’Connell at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) on advancing the predictive understanding of global Blue Carbon Sequestration.
