On November 30, the LoCo2 project was launched at the Danish Technical University (DTU) in Lyngby, Denmark. The project is led by Dr. Hamid Nick of the Danish Offshore Technology Centre at DTU. LoCo2 will focus on the journey CO2 and other fluids will take to the seabed following a future storage site leak. LoCo2 researchers will assess the biological and geochemical processes that may affect the reactive transport of CO2 and associated impurities. The ultimate goal is to understand the potential impact of leaks from hydrocarbon reservoirs used for CO2 storage on life in the seabed sediments. Philippe attended the kick-off meeting as a member of the LoCo2 project’s advisory committee.
