The Canada Water Agency held a two-day in-person workshop on October 19 and 20, 2026, in Manitoba (Winnipeg) focused on advancing collaborative efforts toward developing a National Water Security Strategy (NWSS) and a National Freshwater Data Strategy (NFDS). The workshop brought together more than 140 key partners and stakeholders from across Canada, including all 10 provinces and 3 territories. Participants included leading academics, provincial and territorial government officials, Indigenous rights holders, environmental NGOs, and industry experts. By gathering such a diverse range of perspectives, the workshop provided a critical platform for identifying regional water vulnerabilities and unifying priorities across political and geographical boundaries. All these helped to shape sustainable and collaborative water future for Canada.
