On October 3, 2015, the first fall event took place from the Waterloo Electric Vehicle (EV) Challenge team. The Fall Race had four teams in attendance, from invitations sent to teams in the region who had already competed at Waterloo.
The Fall Race is a low-key event, compared to the Waterloo EV Challenge. Many unique parts of the Waterloo EV Challenge, like the webcast, program, unique race layout, ceremonies, awards, and pace car are stripped away in favour of a 'back-to-its roots' race event. Only one race (the 24 V race) was conducted instead of the two that normally occur.
The race took place at the Waterloo Region Emergency Services Training and Research Complex (WRESTRC), a closed-circuit track used to train firefighters, police officers, bus drivers and snow-plow drivers. Additionally, the University of Waterloo's Fire Research Facility is located on the property. The track was generously lent to us by WRESTRC for the day.
