To whom it may concern,
I want to provide an update for how WEEF will be running this term. After meeting with the Board of Directors recently, we have decided that WEEF will continue to run as usual this term. We owe it to the Waterloo engineering community to continue to provide educational funding to students and faculty who are counting on getting it.
Waterloo has chosen to not allow students to be charged the voluntary WEEF fee this term, but nonetheless we believe that continuing to fund design teams, faculty improvements, and other projects will provide normalcy and a goal to work towards during this troubling time.
All our meetings and typical processes will be done digitally this term and to avoid any major interruptions caused by this drastic change, the deadlines and dates for proposals and reimbursements will be moved to later in the term.
Once the dates have been decided upon they will be communicated on our website and through a faculty-wide email. If you have any questions please email WEEF directly and I will be happy to answer them. I hope you and your loved ones are safe during this time and we look forward to this term's funding cycle.
Kind Regards,
Stephen D. Milek

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land promised to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is centralized within our Indigenous Initiatives Office.
