There are occasions/events (e.g., weddings, births, deaths, etc.) when a decision must be made as to how the department/school/faculty wishes to respond to an employee at a time of great joy or sadness. To assist in this regard, and to ensure that there is some consistency in the way faculty/staff are treated, we propose the following:

It is to be understood that these are only suggested guidelines. The response may vary with individuals, and some circumstances may be especially extreme so the chair/director may choose to respond accordingly. The intent is just to provide a feeling of fellowship for everyone.
Staff Service Recognition since November 2009: The University centrally recognizes regular USG staff for their service at 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40 and 45 year milestones with a $100 gift redeemable on campus. This recognition is independent of 25 and 35-year club celebrations. This was implemented under the Staff Excellence Fund upon the recommendation of the Provost’s Advisory Committee on Staff Compensation.
