The Blackstripe Topminnow is a small freshwater fish found in select river systems across Southwestern Ontario and is currently listed as a species of Special Concern in Canada. Master’s student Emily Dodsworth is researching how temperature and suspended sediment affect the species by recreating its natural habitat in the lab. Her work will help predict how the fish may respond to climate change and human-driven habitat degradation, providing valuable insight to guide future conservation and Species at Risk Act management efforts.
