The GoHelP Lab congratulates Isaiah Omondi on the successful defence of his master's thesis in the Department of Geography and Environmental Management at the University of Waterloo.
Isaiah joined the University of Waterloo in Fall 2024 after working as a Statistician with the Kenya Medical Research Institute and Wellcome Trust Research Programme in Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics from Maseno University.
For his master's research, Isaiah investigated innovative methods for linking repeated cross-sectional studies using propensity score matching to reduce selection bias. His work focused on examining the health and wellbeing of women in Sub-Saharan Africa following the COVID-19 pandemic, comparing post-pandemic outcomes to experiences during the pandemic. This research contributes valuable insights into population health trends and methodological approaches for strengthening evidence in public health research.
We celebrate Isaiah's achievement and the successful completion of his master's degree. His dedication to rigorous research, ethical scholarship, and evidence-based policy will undoubtedly continue to make a meaningful impact in the field. We wish him every success in his future academic and professional endeavours.
Congratulations, Isaiah!
