Some health-related innovations are better suited as commercial or consumer devices. These devices are often unlicensed, and sold directly to consumers through various retail outlets. Unlicensed devices can not advertise as managing, or assisting with, a specific medical condition. While these devices are less strictly regulated, their success in the adoption phase relies on the innovator's ability to market the device.
While health technology assessment, and reimbursement and procurement may be more relevant for innovators who intend on their devices being adopted by the health system, it may still be useful to consider Health Technology Assessment, or reimbursement and procurement.
