Tobi Oyewole, a first year Master of Environmental Studies in Sustainability Management (SUSM) student, won the United Nations award on business and sustainable development. The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), through its Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Pioneer program, annually recognizes the efforts of business leaders who are leveraging their positions within organizations to advance the SDGs through the UNGC Principles and make significant impacts. As a research master’s student, Tobi’s passion lies in enhancing businesses that embrace Environmental, Social and Governance disclosures and the transition to a low carbon economy.

The University of Waterloo acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
