Postdocs working in a lab with masks

Every postdoc has experiences to share, and we want to hear about yours!

Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs (GSPA) is launching the Postdoc Experience Profile project! We will be collecting stories from postdocs related to different aspects of their experiences at the University of Waterloo, creating resources with practical advice and insights to be published on our website. This an opportunity to share your experiences, the successes and struggles, opportunities and challenges, as well as your insights into what it is like to be a postdoc at Waterloo.

Some examples of postdoc experiences you could share are…

  • How you became a postdoc at Waterloo, and any tips you for others who might be trying to find a position here.

  • Caring or providing for family while working as a postdoc, and what resources or supports you have accessed to help with that.

  • Strategies or tools that you have used to maintain a healthy work-life balance as a postdoc.

  • Unique experiences, opportunities, or challenges encountered during your research as a postdoc, and how you approached or addressed them.

By participating, your profile will be featured on the GSPA website. You will be helping to build connections and share practical guidance within the postdoc community, genuinely supporting your peers navigate the opportunities and challenges of the postdoc experience. As a small thank you for your time, the first twenty participants will also receive their choice of a $20 gift card to the W Store or $20 WatCard cash.

Check out the Postdoc Experience Profiles web page for more information on how to participate and how we will share your story!
