Robin Coupland Jutzi graduated with a BA in 1983 from the University of Waterloo, and an MA in 1988. He completed his PhD in English at York University in 1994, becoming the first person with CF in Canada to obtain a doctorate.
In 1992, Robin married Tami Coupland, a high-school friend he had the good fortune to connect with while studying at York. After Robin finished his PhD, they settled in North Bay, Ontario, where Tami served as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the Nipissing and District Health Unit, while Robin taught Composition and Eighteenth Century Literature at Nipissing University.
Robin died as a result of Cystic Fibrosis in 1998. This scholarship is one of the ways that Robin’s family and friends have chosen to remember him and the many gifts he shared with the people around him.
