Workshop goals
- To create a greater awareness and understanding of heritage among professionals and citizens.
- To provide needed information and skills.
- To empower both professionals and citizens by encouraging engagement, co-operation and team work.
A number of themes will be covered including:
- Essential mandate and role of Municipal Heritage Committees
- Ontario Heritage Act
- Council/property and owner/developer relations
- Adaptive reuse of buildings
- Heritage Conservation Districts
- How to determine architectural styles
- Using Building Stories to:
- Research heritage properties
- Draft designation By-Laws
- Building a heritage register
