The test facility is connected to the PLC controlled digital recording system (PHENIX). Accuracy is (0.8% of reading + 0.2% of range to LSD)

  • PD tests with background noise level below pC @ 300KV

The test facility is connected to the High-resolution digital recording system (Sigma 100): color display, 25MHz Bandwidth. Also this generator can be adjusted to produce a steep front fast impulse with < 200 ns rise time.

150kV PD test set

free test power for a variety of capacitive, inductive or resistive loads. Regarding very low PD level, it also can be used as a power source for partial discharge setup. The test system comprises, test transformer, regulator, calibration capacitor, control unit, and coupling capacitor as the main components.

The CAC-PLC is designed for control, regulation and protection of the PD test setup.

PD Detector (Hipotronics, DDX 9101)
The DDX 9101 is one of the new generations of digital wide-band partial discharge detectors with basic functions of an analog detector and meets all IEC and IEEE/ANSI standards for partial discharge testing. The DDX 9101 simply measures the level of PD and the applied test voltage.

Partial discharge is one of the most important tests for the condition assessment of the insulation in high voltage equipment. A low background noise level is necessary for the proper determination of the inception voltage and partial discharge level. The laboratory provides a background of less than 3 pC and tests specified in IEC and IEEE/ANSI standards are easily met.

PD tests of the types indicated above can be carried out on:

Salt fog and clean fog chamber

Salt-fog and clean-fog tests are the basic tests that are done on outdoor insulation materials and on insulators. The stainless steel test chamber is capable of testing up insulations up to 25 kV with leakage current monitoring for analysis of the harmonic components of the leakage current.

Salt-fog and clean-fog tests can be done on:

  • Material formulations
  • Distribution insulators
  • Cable terminations
  • Surge arresters up to 35 kV voltage class

Inclined plane (IPT), laser and dry arc tests

This test can be done according to ASTM D2303 or IEC 60587.

DC IPT test can also be performed on insulating materials to evaluate the initial tracking voltage and time to track on both "+" and "-" polarities.

laser test

An infrared laser simulates the heat erosion during dry band arcing in the incline plane test.

The method provides the same ranking of materials in a less time and has smaller standard deviation in the results.

dry arc test

This test can be done in accordance to ASTM D495 and IEC 61621.

Additionally, current during the test can be recorded.
